FEB 25, 1942: Anti-aircraft batteries put 1,400+ rounds into the air over Los Angeles, California. No aircraft recovered. No bombs dropped. Cause ruled "meteorological." Fort MacArthur stages a reenactment every February. The only mass-fire event over a U.S. city that was never explained. In the last photo known of Major General William Neil McCasland he was wearing a polo shirt from the Fort MacArthur Museum.
