Department of Energy

OrgThe Department of Energy (DOE) is a U.S. federal executive department with a mandate that spans national security, science, energy policy, and infrastructure oversight. Created in 1977 after the energy crises of the early 1970s, its founding mission was to ensure reliable energy supply, steward nuclear weapons and reactor programs, and drive innovation in energy technologies. These original prerogatives continue to define DOE’s core functions, shaping its large role in both civilian energy systems and defense-related nuclear work. DOE also oversees a system of 17 national laboratories that together constitute one of the world’s most extensive scientific infrastructures.
DOE operates at the intersection of policy, research, and implementation. It manages critical energy infrastructure security, including physical and cybersecurity for electricity, fuel, and nuclear networks. Through its Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response, DOE leads risk assessments, response readiness, and coordination with other federal, state, and local agencies. It also runs the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to buffer against supply disruptions.
On the innovation side, DOE funds and operates basic and applied research through programs like the Office of Science, ARPA-E, and the Loan Programs Office. These programs support development of clean-energy technology, efficiency gains, renewable power, and advanced computing. DOE public access policies require that results of federally-funded research be made freely available, including articles and underlying data, enhancing transparency and scholarly utility.
In its nuclear portfolio, DOE retains responsibility for nuclear weapons stewardship (via the National Nuclear Security Administration), naval nuclear reactor support, non-proliferation efforts, and cleanup of Cold War legacy sites. Its environmental management role cleans up contaminated sites and secures radioactive materials.
Recent DOE commitments illustrate strategic shifts: investing in domestic supply chains for critical and rare earth minerals; pursuing fusion power roadmaps; and directing AI-based national science initiatives. While these reflect policy priorities, implementation timing and effectiveness remain under observation.

Head of Department of Energy under President Reagan confessed that “aliens are real and I’ve seen them” after a few drinks with his close family friend https://t.co/yHr1TNTgtS [Quoted] “Alien are real. They’re here. I’ve seen them.” Former Secretary of Energy John Herrington apparently told this to Hollywood producer Brent Friedman when he was 18 years old. The two were family friends. https://t.co/OZxZ0W3m1g

Special Access Required - the Secrecy of UFO Crash Retrieval Programs [VOL.2]
So far a majority of the files dropped have come from the FBI, NASA and the NAVY. We all know that it’s the the Air Force, DOE and CIA that are the gatekeepers so why aren’t people demanding more from them? Seems to me like a really obvious question to be asking, and I don’t know why Luna and co aren’t pushing it.
I thought this was an excellent point by Leslie Kean. We hear time and time again that NHI craft or UFO/UAP are protected under the impossibly broad blanket that is “National Security” to avoid giving adversaries a tactical advantage. It begs the question, what about knowledge and study of NHI biologics? How can the DOE/DOW/IC claim a national security concern on this issue? There clearly appears to be some sensitivity. Did anyone else notice the EBO post on r/aliens was suspiciously deleted...

This may be already a known issue but it absolutely shapes the way I view the limited disclosure that is happening. The DoW/DoD, more than likely, isn't the gatekeeper for anything related to disclosure outside of military eyewitnesses and video collection. The DoW/DoD, via executive function only has the authority, by the POTUS, to declassify DoW/DoD generated classified materials (Executive Order 13526). Important to note, Project Blue Book and all related government sponsored investigation...
