Jim Weiner is an American who, with his twin brother Jack Weiner, Charlie Foltz and Chuck Rak, reported a multiple-witness abduction claim that has been retold for decades as the Allagash Abduction. The four were students at the Massachusetts College of Art when they went on a canoe trip along the Allagash Wilderness Waterway in northern Maine in the summer of 1976. According to the published accounts, they saw a very bright globe of light while fishing at night on Eagle Lake and afterward found that a large campfire had burned down far faster than they expected, which they came to treat as a sign of missing time. Rak has said a ranger attributed the lights the next day to a hardware-store opening in Millinocket.

Weiner's return to the episode began years later, after a fall, when he started having seizures and night-time visions of humanlike figures hovering over his bed and poking him with needles. He described them to investigator Raymond Fowler, who arranged hypnotic regression sessions with Tony Constantino. Under hypnosis the Weiner brothers and Foltz described small grey beings taking them aboard a craft for medical examinations. Fowler's book The Allagash Abductions, published by Wild Flower Press in 1993, presented the case at length, and the men appeared on Unsolved Mysteries and The Joan Rivers Show.

The story has been disputed from inside the group. In 2016 Rak told the Maine newspaper The County that the others had fabricated parts of it, rejected the missing-time claim, said the men had been "definitely stoned" on the lake and called the account "brilliant storytelling" rather than a hoax. Foltz denied any drug use. Weiner answered by email that Rak's claims were "the rantings of an angry and resentful individual," and said he, his brother and Foltz still regarded the hypnotic regressions and later polygraph tests as supporting an abduction. Fowler said Rak had shown little detailed recall under hypnosis.

Weiner has kept a working life outside the case while continuing to speak about it. In 2013, when the Portland Press Herald reported that he worked in information technology at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, he and Foltz presented their account at an experiencer conference in Portland, Maine. The paper noted that the men's separate regression sessions, held years after the trip, had produced slightly different versions of the encounter.

In May 2026, days after the War Department's first release of UFO files, Weiner and Foltz retold the story to Jesse Michels on American Alchemy, which promoted the episode with their description of a glowing sphere about 80 feet across chasing them over the lake. The interview also aired their accounts of hearing Mercury astronaut Gordon Cooper describe a filmed 1957 landing at his air base when they met him in 1996, and of a Lockheed engineer, John Norseen, who they say was in the area that day running a classified exercise. Fifty years after the canoe trip, Weiner and Foltz were still presenting the Allagash events as an abduction, while Rak, one of the original four, publicly rejected that account.
