Some of the Nazca mummies are petrified in seated, cradled, or meditative postures - what does that say about the circumstances of their death?

Are there any speculations on the nature of their deaths? Some of them look contemplative or even meditating. Others are cradled. If they were dying of natural causes, they would almost certainly be lying down. But they entered rigor mortis while sitting up. The only known answer for this amongst humans is monks who achieve mahasamadhi, the ability for the soul to leave the body and let it die. Is that what happened here?
