The Apollo 11 crew saw something on the way to the moon. They studied it through a monocular. Described it as cylindrical at times, two connected rings at others. Spent real time trying to make sense of it before eventually settling on a possible hardware explanation. That document is now in the government's release. I wasn't aware of it before.
