Duncan Trussell is an American stand-up comedian, actor and podcaster, best known as host of The Duncan Trussell Family Hour and co-creator of the Netflix animated series The Midnight Gospel. A frequent guest of Joe Rogan, he often folds UFOs into long conversations about consciousness, religion and technology. His connection to the subject is as a host and commentator; in 2026 that included an episode with the filmmaker Jeremy Corbell and a Rogan appearance devoted partly to the push to release military UAP videos.

Trussell was born Charles Duncan Trussell on April 20, 1974, in Asheville, North Carolina. He tours as a stand-up and has performed at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal and Moontower in Austin. His television work includes MADtv, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Drunk History, Comedy Central's This Is Not Happening and Nick Swardson's Pretend Time, and he voices Dave the moth on HBO's Animals and Hippocampus on Fox's Krapopolis. He also co-starred with Rogan in Syfy's Joe Rogan Questions Everything and co-hosted The Lavender Hour podcast with Natasha Leggero until 2012.

The Family Hour is a long-form interview podcast with more than 700 episodes by September 2026, with guests ranging from Andrew Yang and Dan Harmon to Graham Hancock. Its recurring themes include Tibetan Buddhism and the teachings of Ram Dass. Select episodes became the basis of The Midnight Gospel, which Trussell co-created with the Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward and which Netflix released in 2020. In a 2020 interview with Inverse, Trussell said that after a show in Arlington, Virginia, an audience member who said they worked in a branch that investigates such things told him they had "no idea" what the objects in government-released UFO videos were; Trussell had assumed they were experimental terrestrial technology.

In early March 2026, episode 732 of the Family Hour featured Corbell, who called it the "most fun and direct discussion I've ever had about the UAP issue." On an April 9, 2026 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Trussell and Rogan discussed Representative Anna Paulina Luna's request to the Department of War for 46 UAP videos, due on April 14. Clips shared by UFO news accounts also showed them discussing the religious side of the phenomenon, with Trussell remarking on how strange it was to hear Vice President JD Vance suggest that UFOs could be demons.

Trussell matters to the UFO conversation as a high-reach host rather than as an investigator: his own podcast and his recurring seat opposite Rogan carry disclosure claims, congressional video requests and religious readings of the phenomenon to audiences far beyond specialist UFO media. He treats the subject with the same open curiosity he brings to Buddhism and consciousness, and has described himself as "a big fan of conspiracy theories, not as fact but as emergent folklore."
