Piers Morgan is a British broadcaster, journalist and former national newspaper editor who hosts Piers Morgan Uncensored, an interview and debate program distributed mainly on YouTube. His connection to the UFO subject is as a host: in 2026, as the Trump administration prepared to release government UFO files, his show repeatedly put disclosure advocates, skeptics, scientists and a member of Congress on air to argue the subject.

Born Piers Stefan O'Meara in Guildford, Surrey, on 30 March 1965, Morgan was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch in January 1994, at 29. He edited the Daily Mirror from 1995 until May 2004, when he was dismissed after the paper published fake photographs purporting to show British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners and he declined to apologize to the publisher's management.

Television then became his main platform. He was a judge on America's Got Talent from 2006 to 2011, hosted Piers Morgan Live on CNN from January 2011 until March 2014, and co-presented ITV's Good Morning Britain from 2015 until March 2021, when he left after controversy over his comments on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's interview with Oprah Winfrey. Piers Morgan Uncensored launched on TalkTV on 25 April 2022 and was also carried by Sky News Australia and Fox Nation. Morgan moved full episodes to YouTube in February 2024, his company Wake Up Productions acquired the show's rights in early 2025, and a weekly highlights edition began airing on Channel 5 that September. By August 2026 the channel had nearly 4.5 million subscribers.

The UFO segments began in late February 2026. UFO filmmaker Jeremy Corbell told Morgan that White House and Pentagon officials were discussing what information about aliens should be released, saying, "Public demand is gonna get us the truth," and the same program featured podcaster Jesse Michels debating the skeptic Michael Shermer. Days later astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson discussed whether the government might be hiding aliens, saying he would "listen to the insiders, not the President." Documentary maker James Fox thanked Morgan for covering the subject while arguing that Tyson was the wrong person to ask about it.

In April 2026 Morgan put the question directly to Rep. Tim Burchett: "Do you believe aliens exist?" Burchett said he did, citing government briefings with video and pictures and pilots' reports of near-collisions, and when Morgan pressed for hard proof, Burchett acknowledged that he had not personally seen an unidentified craft. Morgan's role in these exchanges was that of interviewer and moderator rather than advocate, and the format brought the 2026 disclosure argument to a large general-interest audience as open debate rather than advocacy.
