Tim Kaine is an American lawyer and Democratic politician who served as mayor of Richmond, governor of Virginia, and chair of the Democratic National Committee before entering the U.S. Senate in 2013. He was the Democratic vice-presidential nominee in 2016 and has held a long-running assignment on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
