Zodiac is an alleged U.S. UAP crash-retrieval or exploitation program named in public testimony and documents but not independently verified.
Zodiac, sometimes called Project Zodiac, is a name attached to allegations of a deeply classified U.S. program involving recovered UAP material or technology. Public descriptions do not establish a consistent founding date, parent agency, budget line, or documentary chain. The name should therefore be treated as an alleged program identifier rather than a confirmed entry in the history of UFO programs.
The term has appeared in testimony and commentary surrounding purported crash-retrieval efforts, including material submitted to congressional proceedings. It is also associated in some narratives with the notes commonly called the Wilson-Davis memo. Those documents show that claims using the name circulated among specific people; they do not independently demonstrate that the program existed or performed the activities attributed to it. A document’s admission to a hearing record establishes provenance for the exhibit, not verification of every statement inside it.
Zodiac is often placed within a supposed network of unacknowledged programs, private contractors, and restricted compartments. Real special-access mechanisms exist, and their rules can limit who receives information. But the existence of classification and SAPs does not verify a particular hidden project. A testable account would need stable identifiers, contracting or appropriations records, authenticated directives, responsible officials, or physical evidence with traceable custody.
Official historical reviews, including AARO’s 2024 report, state that investigators did not verify claims that the U.S. government or industry possessed extraterrestrial technology. Critics dispute the completeness and access behind that conclusion, which is a legitimate oversight question, but disagreement does not supply the missing evidence for Zodiac. The most accurate status is unresolved allegation: relevant to government secrecy discourse and congressional inquiry, yet lacking the documentation required to describe its structure or achievements as fact.
