Morning in America is the national morning newscast of NewsNation, the cable news network owned by Nexstar Media Group. The weekday edition airs live from 6 to 9 a.m. Eastern and is anchored by Markie Martin; a weekend edition airs Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m., and by October 2026 the network's program descriptions named Anna Kooiman as its host. NewsNation describes it as a "live three-hour national morning newscast." Unidentified anomalous phenomena have been almost absent from the program.
The show premiered in 2021, hosted by former ABC News correspondent Adrienne Bankert, as NewsNation built out a full daytime schedule after relaunching from WGN America. In May 2023 the network named Martin, a Dallas-based NewsNation correspondent since 2020 and a former morning anchor at KOCO in Oklahoma City, as Bankert's co-anchor and expanded the program to four hours, from 6 to 10 a.m., replacing the one-hour Early Morning edition. On January 22, 2024, the weekday show returned to three hours with Martin as solo anchor, while Bankert moved to a special projects role.
A weekend edition launched on January 27, 2024, anchored by Hena Doba from 7 to 10 a.m. with a former "Today" show producer, Dee Dee Thomas, as executive producer. NewsNation moved the weekend start to 6 a.m. in its early 2026 schedule changes, and in June 2026 Doba left to anchor the network's weekend primetime newscast. On weekdays the program hands off at 9 a.m. to NewsNation Live.
The format is a conventional morning mix of national politics, economics, crime, weather and lighter features. Its autumn 2026 segments covered the war with Iran and ceasefire diplomacy, soaring diesel prices and farm costs, early voting before the midterm elections, Hurricane Isaias, a lung nodule reported in Pope Leo XIV, the reopened Cornell University sexual assault case, incidents involving AI agents acting on government websites, entertainment reporter Paula Froelich's "The Scoop" and a visit to the State Fair of Texas.
Morning in America matters to the UAP record only as part of its network. While NewsNation's evening hosts and correspondent Ross Coulthart ran repeated segments on the 2026 Pentagon file releases and on missing scientists, the morning newscast left the subject almost entirely to those later programs and kept to general breakfast-hour news.
