NewsNation is a national American cable news network owned by Nexstar Media Group. It emerged from WGN America, first as a prime-time newscast in 2020 and then as the network’s full identity in 2021. Nexstar expanded the schedule in stages until NewsNation operated as an around-the-clock news service. Its stated positioning emphasized straight news and a less partisan presentation, supported by Nexstar’s large network of local television stations and reporting bureaus.

The network built its public identity around live breaking news, interviews, and personality-led evening programs. Its anchors and correspondents include journalists working from New York, Washington, Chicago, and Nexstar stations across the country. That distribution gives NewsNation a national platform with a local-news supply chain different from the older cable networks. Editorially, however, it remains a commercial broadcaster: choices about guests, exclusives, repeated segments, and framing determine how viewers encounter claims even when a program presents the underlying interview at length.

NewsNation became unusually important to modern UAP coverage through reporting by Ross Coulthart and through extended interviews with witnesses, former officials, members of Congress, and researchers. Its June 2023 interview introducing David Grusch to a mass television audience helped move his allegations about hidden recovery programs into congressional and international debate. Subsequent specials, hearings coverage, and studio discussions made UAP a continuing beat rather than a one-night novelty. The network’s broadcasts document what named speakers alleged; they do not independently establish the extraordinary parts of those accounts.

NewsNation’s role is therefore both journalistic and infrastructural. It has supplied airtime, professional production, and rapid national distribution for a subject that many broadcasters once treated episodically or dismissively. That access has increased scrutiny of government statements and exposed primary interviews to a broad public, while also placing a responsibility on the network to distinguish new documentation from repetition, inference, and advocacy. Its accumulated broadcasts now form a consequential record of the people, language, and political pressures that defined the disclosure debate after 2023.
