Mystery Wire is a news website, video archive and television program created by KLAS-TV, the Nexstar-owned Channel 8 station in Las Vegas, and led by the station's veteran investigative reporter George Knapp. It covers UFOs and UAP alongside Area 51, military secrecy, aerospace technology, organized crime and historical mysteries. It also republishes decades of Knapp's reporting and full-length versions of interviews that were cut down for the evening news.

KLAS launched Mystery Wire on November 6, 2019, exactly 30 years after the station aired the first part of Knapp's nine-part series "UFOs: The Best Evidence," which introduced Bob Lazar and made Area 51 known around the world. Knapp announced it on air as "a living, breathing archive and repository for decades of news stories and interviews," with new reports on UFOs, military programs, the Nevada Test Site and other subjects. A 2020 Desert Companion profile described it as an archive of Knapp's best-known work that he expected to draw on the resources of Nexstar's other stations.

UFO reporting is the outlet's core. Its archive reflects Knapp's long association with Robert Bigelow's research organizations and Skinwalker Ranch, including an April 2021 interview with ranch owner Brandon Fugal, and in April 2026 Knapp released a full interview with former Defense Intelligence Agency official James Lacatski about a new book on AAWSAP, the DIA's UFO study. The program also covers science, such as a September 2026 episode in which astronomer Beatriz Villarroel discussed her research on mysterious sky flashes and the attacks she said she faced over it. Other episodes range from Area 52 to the use of chimpanzees in early spaceflight and the Tupac Shakur murder case.

By 2026 Mystery Wire had become a half-hour program hosted by Knapp and Ron Futrell, airing in the Las Vegas market and distributed on YouTube and the station's free 8NEWS+ streaming app. Its 2026 episodes tracked the federal PURSUE record releases and the disclosure debate. Lue Elizondo joined a May 22 broadcast on the day of the second federal release of UFO videos, photos and documents, and in a June 4 appearance filmmaker Jeremy Corbell said that if the next release did not address reverse engineering and biological remains, hundreds of journalists already held file material of the kind shown in his documentary Sleeping Dog. Such statements are guests' own claims, presented as interviews rather than as the outlet's findings.

Mystery Wire is an unusual case of a commercial local television newsroom maintaining a dedicated UFO and mysteries brand. It preserves the KLAS reporting that first made Area 51 and Lazar national stories, and its interviews with AAWSAP veterans, former officials and disclosure figures made it a frequently cited source during the 2026 disclosure debate.
