NUFORC just published an investigation into a previously unknown 1967 radar incident. A retired USAF radar tech from Fortuna AFS (ND) reported tracking an object moving ~5,000 mph in jumps across the scope, too fast for his FPS-26 height finder to lock onto. We just published a new analytical report on whether lunar phase correlates with UAP reporting frequency. This is the largest moon phase–UAP correlation study we're aware of — 147,628 sighting records from NUFORC and our own submissions database. Primary finding: The chi-square test rejects uniform distribution across 8 lunar phases (χ² = 212.18, p < 0.000001, df = 7). This post is a response to the earlier post about states with the most UFO sightings that was essentially just a popular map. The first map is from this Nature article The second map is is from here and is the lowest quality of the maps presented. But still better than 5 entire states colored red. The final image is from this 2023 analysis from the RAND Corporation. Both the first and last maps are constructed using sighting data from NUFORC.

I analyzed NUFORC data on the three Tinley Park events and discovered two things I didn't expect: Witness descriptions were remarkably consistent across hundreds of independent reports. Also people reported the second event 22x faster than the first. The community had learned where to report, which supports that this was not a hoax. The story is here if you want to check it out.
