Daniel Reed Crenshaw is a Republican member of the U.S. House representing Texas's 2nd congressional district in the northern Houston suburbs, a former Navy SEAL officer and a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. His connection to UAP runs through that committee seat and through his appearance among the members of Congress interviewed in The Age of Disclosure, Dan Farah's 2025 documentary.

Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1984 to American parents, Crenshaw grew up in Katy, Texas, and spent part of his youth in Ecuador and Colombia. He graduated from Tufts University in 2006, was commissioned through Navy ROTC and deployed to Fallujah, Iraq, with SEAL Team 3. On his third deployment, in Afghanistan's Helmand Province in 2012, an improvised explosive device destroyed his right eye and badly damaged his left. He deployed twice more and was medically retired in 2016 as a lieutenant commander, having received two Bronze Stars, one with valor, and the Purple Heart. He later earned a master's degree in public administration from Harvard Kennedy School.

Crenshaw won the open seat left by Ted Poe in 2018 and was reelected three times. He wrote the 2020 book Fortitude: American Resilience in the Era of Outrage and hosts the podcast Hold These Truths. In the 119th Congress he serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee and, on the Intelligence Committee, chairs the Subcommittee on Defense Intelligence and Overhead Architecture and the committee's Cartel Task Force. In March 2026 he lost the Republican primary to state Representative Steve Toth, so his House tenure is due to end in January 2027.

His UAP remarks drew attention in February 2026, when a video clip shared by UAP commentators showed him saying that "the attributes of some of these crafts defy the laws of physics" and that unexplained behavior had been recorded on sensors he described as highly verified. The researcher Joe Murgia responded that he had yet to see any public video clearly showing such performance. Days later, a Fox News appearance in which Crenshaw discussed David Grusch drew criticism from Grusch's supporters, who said he had misstated Grusch's role in the government's UAP work and what Grusch had provided to the inspector general.

Crenshaw's UAP record is modest: a documentary appearance and a handful of public remarks, and he is not known to have sponsored UAP legislation. Its weight comes from his standing as a combat veteran and intelligence-subcommittee chairman who has said on camera that some objects recorded by military sensors remain unexplained.
