Eric Burlison is an American Republican politician who represented southwest Missouri in the state legislature before winning election to the U.S. House in 2022. In Congress he joined the Oversight and Accountability Committee, where he became one of the lawmakers most actively pursuing classified briefings, witnesses, and records related to unidentified anomalous phenomena.
Before Congress, Burlison worked in software and business and served for years in the Missouri legislature, where he developed a reputation as a limited-government conservative. His technical background shapes the granular way he approaches alleged programs, sensors, contracting structures, and physical performance claims. In Washington he has used both public hearings and classified briefings to pursue the issue, becoming one of the lawmakers most willing to discuss how his own views changed as he encountered additional witnesses.
Burlison began from a publicly skeptical position but said briefings and interviews persuaded him that government transparency and program oversight warranted sustained attention. He has questioned witnesses at hearings, met with disclosure advocates, discussed alleged contractor and special-access leads, and pressed agencies on what they have investigated. He has also entertained highly speculative possibilities in interviews; those remarks should be distinguished from findings established by the committee.
Burlison represents the investigative wing of congressional UAP oversight. His influence comes from subpoena authority, briefings, legislation, and direct access to officials—not from personal observation of anomalous craft. He is closely connected to the post-2023 effort to follow David Grusch’s allegations and improve whistleblower access. Whether that effort produces public evidence is the key measure of his role in the disclosure record.
