Eric Weinstein is an American mathematician and economist who served as managing director of Thiel Capital and hosts The Portal. He earned a doctorate in mathematical physics from Harvard and has developed a proposed framework called Geometric Unity, which he presents as an alternative approach to fundamental physics. The framework has not entered mainstream physics through a complete peer-reviewed treatment.
Weinstein trained in mathematical physics at Harvard and later built a career spanning economics, investment, and public intellectual work. As managing director of Thiel Capital and host of The Portal, he cultivated a reputation for attacking institutional conformity and promoting ideas he believes established disciplines dismiss too quickly.
