Gadi Schwartz is an American television journalist, a correspondent for NBC News and the anchor of Stay Tuned Now on the NBC News Now streaming channel. He was born in Guatemala City in 1983, moved with his family to New Mexico as a child and grew up in Albuquerque, later graduating from New Mexico State University. He spent about ten years at KOB in Albuquerque as a weekend anchor and investigative reporter, winning a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award for feature reporting in 2012, before joining NBC's Los Angeles station, KNBC.
Schwartz became an NBC network correspondent in 2016 and covered the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro that year and the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. He co-hosted Stay Tuned, the daily news show NBC News produced for Snapchat, and later hosted The Overview on Peacock. He also reports for NBC Nightly News and Today and has filled in as an anchor of Nightly News. He is based in Los Angeles.
UAP have been a recurring subject in his reporting. In May 2024 he interviewed retired Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet about a paper that cited Customs and Border Protection video of an object over the ocean near Puerto Rico and argued that the government was not sharing all it knew. In April 2026 he reported on Representative Anna Paulina Luna's demand that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth hand over dozens of military UAP videos by April 14, the deadline she had set. Weeks later, while covering the government's latest file release, he told viewers that as a boy he and his father had watched a light approach their car in the New Mexico desert, stop and then speed away. He called the sighting "eerily similar" to the 2021 Syria UAP video.
On June 25, 2026, Schwartz moderated the national security panel at the Disclosure Foundation's Disclosure Forum in the Russell Senate Office Building. His panelists were Gallaudet, former Pentagon intelligence official Christopher Mellon, former Senate Armed Services staffer Kirk McConnell and former State Department analyst Marik von Rennenkampff, and the discussion covered what disclosure would mean for national security, arms control and intelligence sharing. In September he interviewed astronomer Beatriz Villarroel and psychologist Stephen Bruehl on NBC News about their study of brief star-like flashes on sky-survey plates from the 1950s and their proposed links to UFO reports and nuclear tests, findings other astronomers have attributed to flaws in the photographic plates.
At NBC, Schwartz has treated UAP as a continuing story rather than an occasional novelty. His segments have followed lawmakers' demands for military footage, the government's file releases and the scientific debate, and he has spoken openly on air about the childhood sighting he witnessed with his father.
