Christopher Mellon is an American national-security official and policy advocate who served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence and as minority staff director of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. His career gave him experience with intelligence budgets, classified programs, congressional oversight, and the practical limits on information sharing across agencies.

Mellon comes from a prominent American family but built his own career through national-security and intelligence work. He served in the Defense Department and as staff director of the Senate Intelligence Committee, gaining experience with budgets, oversight, and the boundaries between congressional access and executive secrecy. After leaving government he joined public UAP efforts, helped connect military witnesses with journalists, and used his institutional fluency to translate pilot reports into policy proposals lawmakers could act upon.

After leaving government, Mellon became a central figure in the modern UAP movement. He advised To The Stars Academy and helped bring military videos and former officials into contact with journalists during the reporting that returned the subject to national attention in 2017. He has argued that repeated military encounters present flight-safety and intelligence problems regardless of origin, and he has supported better collection, protected reporting channels, and sustained congressional scrutiny.

Mellon’s defense and Senate service gave his later disclosure advocacy unusual institutional reach. He helped move military reports into public view, advised lawmakers on UAP legislation, and framed anomalous encounters as enduring flight-safety and intelligence problems.
