Jeffrey Mishlove is an American parapsychologist, author and interviewer who hosts New Thinking Allowed, a long-running video interview series on consciousness, parapsychology and anomalous experience. He received a doctorate in parapsychology from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1980, which his foundation describes as the only doctoral diploma in the field ever awarded by an accredited university. His place in the UFO record comes through Ted Owens, a self-described psychic who claimed he could summon UFOs, and through Robert Bigelow's research on the survival of consciousness.
Mishlove came to parapsychology from criminology, a path he retraced in 2026 interviews, and, according to The Why Files, worked within the Stanford Research Institute community during the era of its government-funded psychic research. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the public-television series Thinking Allowed, which The Why Files credits with more than 1,500 interviews. He is a past vice president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology, a past president of the Intuition Network, and the author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems and The PK Man. New Thinking Allowed launched on YouTube in 2015 and is run by a volunteer-staffed charitable foundation.
The PK Man is Mishlove's study of Owens, who claimed that "Space Intelligences" had given him powers over weather, lightning and the appearance of UFOs. According to Jesse Michels's American Alchemy, Mishlove spent eleven years studying Owens and received his research files from Hal Puthoff and Russell Targ at SRI. Among the claims Mishlove recounts is that Owens predicted the 1986 Challenger disaster. A feature documentary, PK Man, directed by Lance Mungia and presented with New Thinking Allowed, is in progress.
In 2021 the Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies, founded the previous year by Robert Bigelow, awarded Mishlove the $500,000 first prize in its essay contest on survival after bodily death for Beyond the Brain: The Survival of Human Consciousness After Permanent Bodily Death. Near-death researcher Pim van Lommel took second prize and Leo Ruickbie third. In April 2026 New Thinking Allowed released a UFO disclosure update with physicist Eric W. Davis, the former science adviser to AATIP and the UAP Task Force, and the same month AJ Gentile interviewed Mishlove for The Why Files.
In August 2026 American Alchemy released a long interview covering Owens, the Bigelow prize and the SRI years. In it Mishlove said some past interview subjects had told him the long-term aim of contact is open coexistence between humans and non-human beings, a remark that circulated widely on UFO forums. Five decades of interviews, the Berkeley degree and his Owens files have made Mishlove a standing reference for UFO researchers who treat consciousness and psychic phenomena as part of the subject.
[Retweeted] Healed after a UFO encounter? Yes, you read that right. 🛸 Another gem from the archives. Jacques Vallée discusses reports of extraordinary healings with Jeffrey Mishlove. Experiencers have been telling us about this for decades. I too experienced a healing 5 years ago https://t.co/mZ5X5VjtU1
I cringe a bit when I hear stuff like this. It's a nice thought/idea, but there's no way to prove any of it. Were they servants of a supreme consciousness when they vaporized three dogs, put a hole in Semivan's neck, or made his wife bleed for 17 days after their experience? https://t.co/nSjO0atxyB [Quoted] Robert Bigelow to Jeffrey Mishlove: “Regardless of where the extraterrestrial intelligences are from... they are all servants of a Supreme Consciousness." And God… is real. https://t.co/is...

RT @AmericanALCHMY: “Most of the universe is composed of plasma!” Ft @jmishlove https://t.co/6kkk6oof8d
One of the most intriguing comments @jmishlove makes in his interview with @AlchemyAmerican concerns what some of his past interview subjects have told him about the ultimate purpose of contact. According to Mishlove, he has spoken with people who claim the long-term intention is an eventual civilization on Earth where humans and non-human beings live together openly. If true, that radically changes the framework. Not invasion. Not observation. Not even Disclosure as the endpoint. Integration...

He Predicted a Massive UFO Sighting! (ft. Jeffrey Mishlove)
I'm skeptical of anything the phenomenon (in its various forms) claims as truth. Jeffrey Mishlove was warned that UFO's were going to shoot The NASA Challenger down & Tim Taylor was the Mission Controller 🛸👽 “This is the most important phone call you will ever receive. You have to notify the U.S. government not to send up the next space shuttle. Because if they do, my UFOs are going to knock it right out of the sky.” On Christmas Eve 1985, the only person ever awarded an accredited PhD in parapsychology received that warning from Ted Owens, the man he had studied for ov...
@jmishlove @AlchemyAmerican This is an amazing conversation. Mishlove has had an enormous impact on my research, and I would consider him one of my heroes in the world of things anomalous: https://t.co/RinD7n2VZO
