The crew and presenter Jaime Maussan treated the lights as extraordinary, while technical critics argued that distant oil-platform flares viewed through infrared equipment offered a plausible explanation.
Mexico's Congress later hosted public sessions at which Maussan and others presented alleged non-human bodies and additional UAP claims. Those appearances were hearings or forums, not scientific or governmental authentication of the specimens. Their global reach nonetheless reinforced Mexico's role as a venue where anomalous claims enter public institutions quickly and where the authority of the setting can be mistaken for an official finding.
The country's strongest contribution to the record is openness around specific material such as the Campeche video, paired with an equally visible dispute over interpretation.
