The Angry Astronaut is a YouTube channel run by space journalist and video creator Jordan Wright. Wright is not an astronaut; the name is his on-screen persona. Launched in May 2019 as a spaceflight-news channel, it has grown to roughly 280,000 subscribers, and by 2026 a large share of its near-daily output dealt with UFOs and unidentified anomalous phenomena.
The channel built its audience on the commercial space race, covering SpaceX, Rocket Lab, the cost of NASA's Space Launch System, and private stations. In 2022 Wright asked NASA Administrator Bill Nelson at a press event how the agency could cut SLS costs, prompting Nelson to joke about how anyone could be an angry astronaut, and the exchange brought the channel wider notice. A National Space Society chapter recommended it for spaceflight news in 2023, and an Irish space center describing Wright as a journalist covering spaceflight, policy, and science invited him to speak that year, crediting his interest to an uncle who worked at NASA.
By 2026 UAP videos had become a central strand, often outdrawing spaceflight titles by two or three times. Wright produced livestreams on the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS, a running series on what he called a fireball UAP outbreak, video-by-video breakdowns of the Pentagon's 2026 UAP footage releases, segments on triangle formations and Mars imagery, anniversary programming on the Phoenix Lights, and a daily clip feature that he says he cannot vouch for. Aggregator accounts on X routinely repackage his videos for UAP audiences.
The channel's framing often goes beyond its sources. When astronomer Ivo Busko published an analysis supporting the existence of transients on 1950s sky-survey plates studied by VASCO, Wright told viewers the only explanation was alien craft, while Busko's paper describes their origin as unknown. No formal critique or correction of the channel by an outside outlet has been published, and its UAP output is commentary and aggregation rather than original investigation.
The Angry Astronaut reflects a broader shift among space-news creators toward UAP coverage as audience interest and government file releases grew. Its institutional role is that of a high-volume explainer and amplifier, translating official releases, preprints, and viral footage into accessible, often emphatic commentary for a large general audience.

(Link below) Almost ten years ago, Astronomers discovered a "Super Earth" in the habitable zone of a nearby stat. However, the scientific majority thought that planets like this, orbiting unpredictable red dwarf stars, should not have atmospheres. Life should be impossible on these planets. And now, the James Webb telescope discovered that this was not the case! Hope to see you...
