Caison Best is a former U.S. Army intelligence officer who has described seeing a large, silent object hover over Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado in February 2022 alongside four colleagues. He reported the sighting through official channels, and the case appeared in the government's third PURSUE release of UFO files in June 2026; he has since described it in several interviews.

Jesse Michels's American Alchemy program has described Best as a combat veteran who served as an intelligence officer in Army Special Forces and a graduate of MIT's Sloan School of Management. NewsNation called him a former Army senior intelligence officer. A case summary published by Americans for Safe Aerospace places the five witnesses as intelligence officers with the 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Carson.

According to the FBI's record of an interview with the witness, whose name is redacted and whom American Alchemy identified as Best, he and four members of his unit were leaving their office building at Fort Carson at about 11:25 a.m. when they saw an object over the mountain. He described it as potato-shaped and creamy white, with irregular panels that shifted in slow waves while the object stayed still, and said it vanished after between thirty seconds and two minutes, as if it had "cloaked." According to the safety group's case summary, the witnesses estimated it at roughly 300 feet across. Best has said a high-stakes briefing on the Ukraine war took place moments afterward, and he later compared the object to an AirPod case from the distant future.

Best has said that the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office handled his report poorly, a criticism he aired in a September 2025 interview with Ross Coulthart, and that the FBI conducted a more thorough inquiry. The June 2026 release included the FBI documents, an artist's rendering and an intelligence community analysis. That analysis judged, with low confidence, that sunlight reflecting off snow onto low clouds may have created the appearance of a solid object, and it found no evidence that the object was an unknown aircraft or a threat. The assessment cited clouds, while the witness interviewed by the FBI recalled a cloudless sky.

Best has worked with Americans for Safe Aerospace, which said he managed its witness intake process and logged his sighting as case MIL-2022-104. In August 2026 he gave a long interview to the group's founder, Ryan Graves. Through his interviews, one redacted case in the 2026 releases now has a named military witness whose own account sits beside the federal file, tracing how a report moved from AARO to the FBI to public release.
