Catherine Herridge is a Canadian-born American investigative journalist who covered national security and intelligence for Fox News and CBS News before going independent in 2024. Her connection to the UAP record is indirect but significant: her reporting on Havana Syndrome, directed-energy weapons, and alleged CIA monitoring of an intelligence-oversight team has run through the same agencies, officials, and whistleblower channels involved in the UAP disclosure fight.
Born in Toronto in 1964, Herridge studied at Harvard and earned a master's degree in journalism from Columbia. She worked for ABC News from 1989, partly from London, and joined Fox News at its 1996 launch, later becoming its chief intelligence correspondent and writing The Next Wave, a 2011 book on al-Qaeda's American recruits. In November 2019 she moved to CBS News as senior investigative correspondent. CBS laid her off in February 2024 and briefly held her reporting files, returning them after pressure from the House Judiciary Committee and the union SAG-AFTRA.
The same year a federal judge held her in civil contempt, with an $800-a-day fine stayed on appeal, for refusing to identify sources behind her 2017 Fox reporting on an FBI inquiry into scientist Yanping Chen. She testified to a House Judiciary subcommittee in April 2024 in support of a federal shield law, and after an appeals court upheld the contempt ruling she petitioned the Supreme Court in August 2026. She now publishes through her own newsletter, Catherine Herridge Reports, and on X, and appears as a guest on NewsNation.
Her UAP-adjacent work centers on anomalous health incidents. In December 2024 she released an interview with a pseudonymous former CIA officer, "Alice," who said an energy weapon had injured her in Africa in 2021. In May 2026 she reported that the CIA had monitored members of Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard's investigative team, whose reported remit included Havana Syndrome and UAP, and that ODNI had concluded earlier intelligence-community assessments of the incidents rested on defective tradecraft. Through September 2026 she reported clusters of suspected directed-energy attacks on U.S. personnel, including officials working on directed-energy technology. The CIA has disputed elements of the whistleblower accounts, and medical sociologist Robert Bartholomew has criticized her reliance on them.
Herridge's place in UAP debates comes from that overlap of subjects and sources rather than from reporting on non-human craft, which she has not pursued. Former intelligence officer David Grusch has said anomalous health incidents struck officials who helped his investigation, and journalist Ross Coulthart amplified her ODNI reporting as evidence of resistance to declassification. Her own work remains focused on intelligence oversight, directed-energy injuries, and the legal protection of journalists' sources.
