Chris Cuomo is an American journalist and host of CUOMO, NewsNation's weeknight 8 p.m. program, which he has anchored since October 2022. A former anchor at ABC News and CNN, and the son of New York Governor Mario Cuomo and brother of Governor Andrew Cuomo, he is one of the network's best-known faces. His connection to unidentified anomalous phenomena is through his show, which became a regular venue for the disclosure story, often with NewsNation correspondent Ross Coulthart.

Born in Queens in 1970, Cuomo graduated from Yale and earned a law degree from Fordham in 1995. After early work for Fox, he spent more than a decade at ABC News as chief law and justice correspondent, co-anchor of 20/20, and news anchor on Good Morning America. He moved to CNN in 2013 to co-host New Day and in 2018 began Cuomo Prime Time, while also hosting a SiriusXM program. His honors include an Emmy, a Peabody and a Polk as part of reporting teams, and a Gerald Loeb Award.

In December 2021 CNN fired him over his involvement in advising his brother's response to sexual-harassment allegations, and he sought $125 million from the network in arbitration. He launched a podcast in 2022 and returned to television that October with CUOMO on NewsNation, later hosting the network's town halls, including a 2025 broadcast with President Trump by phone and an October 2026 midterm forum with Stephen A. Smith. NewsNation called CUOMO its highest-rated show in 2025. In August 2025 he apologized on air after reposting an AI-generated deepfake of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

UAP coverage grew with the network's interest in the story. Fortune reported that CUOMO reached an all-time high during the week in 2023 when NewsNation aired David Grusch's whistleblower interview. In 2026 his show hosted former Pentagon official Lue Elizondo on the documentary The Age of Disclosure; Christopher Mellon, who predicted an avalanche of revelations; and Coulthart, who called links between missing scientists a red herring and, with Elizondo, judged the first official file release underwhelming. Cuomo also interviewed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and criticized the government's aliens-themed release website as adding to the subject's stigma.

Cuomo's significance in the UAP record is as a prominent mainstream anchor who treated the disclosure push as a running news story rather than a novelty. His program helped make NewsNation the main television outlet for the subject during the 2026 file releases.
