On October 17, 1973, at around 10:00 p.m., Falkville, Alabama police chief Jeff Greenhaw received a call from a woman reporting that a UFO had landed in a field outside town. Greenhaw drove to the area with his Polaroid camera. He found no UFO, but while searching a rural road encountered a human-shaped metallic figure standing ahead of him. He went on to take four Polaroid photographs of the figure.

So yeah the chief of police encountered this alien, but afterwards what he experienced is most likely the reason why some people who encountered aliens stay silent. The chief of police’s piece of work wife left him after this, he was fired, and his house was burned down which is a very odd coincidence. He never profited from this encounter and it’s not proven to have been a hoax either given the four photos he provided.
