“Interdimensional beings” is a speculative label for intelligences said to exist outside the ordinary dimensions experienced by humans. The idea is not a recognized biological category, and no independently verified specimen, signal, or observation demonstrates that such beings exist. It should also not be confused with extra dimensions in mathematical physics: a dimension in a physical model does not imply a populated parallel realm.
Within UFO literature, the concept developed partly as an alternative to visitors arriving from another star. Jacques Vallée argued that reported encounters sometimes resemble folklore, apparitions, or psychologically disruptive experiences more than straightforward spacecraft landings. That observation helped shape the broader interdimensional hypothesis, but it remains an interpretation of heterogeneous reports, not a demonstrated origin for them.
Claims about beings crossing dimensions often draw on witness testimony involving sudden appearances, altered time, telepathic communication, or entities that do not behave like ordinary organisms. Such experiences can be meaningful to witnesses without establishing the mechanism proposed to explain them. Sleep phenomena, misperception, cultural expectation, deception, neurological events, and unknown causes all remain possible in individual cases. Neither the strangeness of a report nor the failure to resolve it proves an extradimensional source.
The term is most useful when it identifies a particular claim rather than functioning as a catch-all answer. It differs from extraterrestrials, which are hypothesized to arise elsewhere in the physical universe, and from non-human intelligence, a broader category that does not specify origin. A grounded treatment therefore tracks who advances an interdimensional interpretation, what observations prompted it, and which parts are testimony or inference. Established physics can constrain loose analogies, but it currently supplies no empirical bridge from extra-dimensional equations to reported entities.
