Project Blue Beam is a conspiracy theory developed by Canadian writer Serge Monast in the 1990s. Its versions generally claim that NASA, the United Nations, or a hidden global authority plans to manufacture a worldwide crisis through projected religious imagery, electronic manipulation, and a simulated extraterrestrial event. The supposed deception would then be used to replace existing religions and consolidate political control.
Monast presented the scheme as a sequence of stages, but he did not produce authenticated planning records, budgets, contracts, technical specifications, or named officials responsible for such a program. Later retellings have changed details and attached new technologies to the story. Satellites, holograms, directed energy, drones, artificial intelligence, and mass-media manipulation are invoked according to the anxieties of the moment, making Operation Blue Beam more adaptable as a narrative than specific as a testable claim.
Real technologies provide the theory with fragments of plausibility while falling far short of its proposed capabilities. Large-scale projections, coordinated drone displays, synthetic media, psychological operations, and electronic warfare all exist in limited forms. None demonstrates the ability to place convincing three-dimensional figures across the entire sky, transmit identical thoughts into billions of minds, or secretly stage a global supernatural event. Viral videos presented as Blue Beam evidence commonly show ordinary projections, launch phenomena, atmospheric optics, edited footage, or events with no demonstrated connection to an organized program.
The theory persists because it joins religious fear, government secrecy, and UFO disclosure into a single explanation that can absorb almost any unusual public spectacle. That flexibility also makes it difficult to falsify in the eyes of committed believers: an absent event becomes a postponed schedule, and contrary evidence becomes part of the cover-up. Historically, Project Blue Beam is best treated as a documented conspiracy tradition with a traceable author, not as a verified state project or a reliable explanation for UAP reports.
