Brandon Fugal is an American commercial real-estate executive and technology investor based in Utah. He became the owner of Skinwalker Ranch in 2016 after purchasing the property from Robert Bigelow’s ownership group. Fugal initially kept his ownership private, then disclosed it publicly as the ranch became the subject of a History Channel series and a broader program of privately funded experiments.
Before becoming publicly associated with the ranch, Fugal built a substantial career in commercial real estate. He co-founded and co-owned Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors before its combination with Colliers, where he became chairman and co-owner of the Utah operation. His portfolio has included large office, development, and technology-oriented projects across the Intermountain West. That business background supplied the capital, management structure, and tolerance required for a long investigation without a conventional institutional sponsor.
Under Fugal, the property has been equipped with cameras, sensors, radar, GPS devices, radiation instruments, and other systems used by a team led on site by Erik Bard and including researchers such as Travis Taylor. The team has reported equipment failures, unusual signals, aerial observations, and recurring areas of interest, with proposed explanations ranging from environmental effects and interference to more speculative possibilities. The resulting material records the team’s observations and experiments without establishing a settled cause for the reported events.
Fugal serves as the investigation’s owner, principal funder, and most visible public steward. He has said he believes something unusual occurs at Skinwalker Ranch, while emphasizing instrumentation, repeated testing, and outside expertise as the means of investigating it. His combination of private sponsorship, television exposure, and sustained field research has made him a central figure in modern public discussion of UAP, anomalous experiences, and reported “hitchhiker” effects associated with the property.
