Dave Foley is a Canadian actor, comedian, writer and director, a founding member of the sketch troupe The Kids in the Hall and the star of the sitcom NewsRadio. A longtime follower of UFO reports, he has described seeing an unidentified craft in Ventura County, California, in January 2022 while with the filmmaker Jeremy Corbell, and he has since spoken about the subject at conventions, on podcasts and in livestreams.
Born David Scott Foley on January 4, 1963, in Etobicoke, Ontario, he formed The Kids in the Hall in 1984 with Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson. The troupe's television series ran from 1988 to 1995, and the five reunited for a revival series in 2022. From 1995 to 1999 Foley played the news director Dave Nelson in 97 episodes of NewsRadio. He voiced Flik, the inventor ant at the center of Pixar's A Bug's Life (1998), hosted Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown from 2004, starred as Pat Hein in the sitcom Dr. Ken from 2015 to 2017, and later appeared in Fargo and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
He made the sighting public on June 29, 2022, posting a drawing he said he had made the day after. "After years of interest in the UFOS without ever seeing anything, I saw something," he wrote, adding that the object moved silently and at great speed, hovered and "pulsated with light." In replies reported by HuffPost, he put its size at about that of a Greyhound bus, described three white lights on its front and a "semi-triangular fuselage," and said it appeared to be "under intelligent control." He did not then name the friend who was with him. Both men have since described the encounter in public: according to the Ojai Valley News, they place it at about 8 p.m. on January 11, 2022, and describe a "glowing orange" craft that seemed to hang a couple of hundred yards in front of them before shooting off into the distance.
Foley showed his drawing on KTLA in May 2024 and talked about the night at the Contact in the Desert conference in Indian Wells that June, where Corbell recorded a conversation with him. He said that before that night neither man had had a firsthand experience, although both had spent years looking into other people's accounts. In June 2026 he was a guest at a live show in Toronto hosted by Chris Ramsay, and that September he joined actor Thomas Jane, filmmaker Dean Alioto and the experiencer Debra Kauble for a livestream question-and-answer session run by the Anomalous Coalition, whose promotional clips showed him discussing the shared sighting with Corbell and how difficult real contact might be even for people who say they are ready for it.
Foley is one of the few well-known comedians to describe a UFO sighting of his own. His account stands out in UFO circles because Corbell, one of the field's most prominent filmmakers, has described the same night, making it a celebrity sighting with a second named witness.
Dave Foley recounts his UFO sighting
Debra Kauble (then Debra Tomey) came forward in 1986 under the pseudonym "Kathie Davis" in the book Intruders by Budd Hopkins. She was one of the first people to come forward in the dark days of the UFO stigma to talk about what she and her family had experienced with NHI. In 2026 Debra gave a moving speech for the Rice University Center for The Impossible's symposium on "Breaking the Taboo" detailing how she navigated this journey of being a public experiencer while also raising children and...
Dave Foley and Jeremy Corbell dicuss a jointly witnessed UAP that they also photographed. This is really compelling as its a jointly witnessed event with evidence. Dave has deeply researched this topic and would welcome your questions. The event is special guest hosted by Actor Thomas Jane (The Expanse, The Punisher, The Mist), Documentary Director Dean Alioto and Experiencer ("Kathie Davis" depicted in Budd Hopkins Intruders) Deb Kauble. You may think you're prepared for the truth but the reality of having a contact experience is more complicated and nuanced then maybe the hardcore truth seekers are prepared for. Experiencers know this complication. Hey Everyone - this is pretty timely because YOU get to ask special guest host Thomas Jane, Dave Foley, Deb Kauble and Dean Alioto questions from Reddit about this or anything else this Sunday!
