Debra Jordan-Kauble is an American experiencer from Indiana whose reports of encounters with non-human beings formed the core of Budd Hopkins's 1987 book Intruders: The Incredible Visitations at Copley Woods. Hopkins gave her the pseudonym "Kathie Davis." She later spoke publicly under her own name, published two books about her experiences and has spent much of her later life working with other people who report similar encounters.
Intruders, published by Random House, centers on events she reported in 1983 in the Indianapolis area, in a setting the book calls Copley Woods. Drawing on her account and on hypnosis sessions, Hopkins argued that abductions were part of a program of genetic experimentation, an idea the book helped popularize. It spent four weeks on The New York Times paperback bestseller list. Reviewing it for the Times, Bettyann Kevles wrote that Kathie and the others had experienced "inexplicable time losses and strange dreams" but questioned the reliability of information gathered under hypnosis, and other critics argued that Hopkins's methods could shape memories, a charge he denied. In May 1992 CBS aired Intruders, a two-part miniseries directed by Dan Curtis that was partly based on the book and used fictionalized characters.
In 1994 she published Abducted!: The Story of the Intruders Continues, written as Debbie Jordan with her sister, Kathy Mitchell, and in August 2021 August Night Press published her second book, Extraordinary Contact: Life Beyond Intruders. According to a 2026 library event listing, she is a former Indiana MUFON investigator, co-founded her own paranormal group, co-hosts the podcasts Midwest Paratalk Radio and Voices of Contact, and helps run an online support page for experiencers in the Midwest.
She remained active in experiencer events in 2026. In June she gave a Zoom presentation on the 1983 case for Indiana MUFON through the Johnson County Public Library in Franklin, Indiana, and the Anomalous Coalition, a partnership of Reddit moderators, said she had spoken that year at a Rice University symposium on "Breaking the Taboo" about living as a public experiencer. On September 13 she joined actor Thomas Jane, director Dean Alioto and Dave Foley for the coalition's livestream question-and-answer session on the experiencer phenomenon.
Her story, first told under a pseudonym, became one of the founding case studies of modern abduction research and the case through which Hopkins brought the idea of genetic experimentation to a mass readership. Four decades after the events Hopkins described, she speaks under her own name as an experiencer and as a source of support for others who report contact.
