Deeptanshu "Deep" Prasad is a Canadian technology entrepreneur who has founded companies in quantum computing, AI-driven materials science and satellite imaging. He has also been a visible figure in the UFO community since 2019. He says he had a close encounter with non-human beings in his Toronto apartment that year, and in October 2026 he recounted it at length on American Alchemy. He is often introduced on UFO programs as a physicist, but his university degree is in engineering.
Prasad was born in India and moved to Canada. In 2014, as a first-year engineering student at the University of Toronto, he reached the final round of a "(next) Einstein" competition with a plan to capture energy from keystrokes using piezoelectric materials. He graduated in 2018 with a degree in industrial engineering. That year he founded ReactiveQ, a Toronto quantum-computing startup he led as chief executive. He later founded GenMat, also known as Quantum Generative Materials, an Austin-based company that uses machine learning to design materials. In October 2024 GenMat transferred its space business to StarVasa, Prasad's new company, where he is founder and CEO. The assets included an orbital imaging and remote-sensing satellite, mission-control software and the space development team.
Prasad has said his interest in UFOs began with the 2017 release of Pentagon UFO videos. By 2019 he was speaking openly about wanting to find and reverse-engineer a UFO, and he agreed to help raise investment for UAP eXpeditions. That nonprofit planned to track possible UAP activity off the California coast. In February 2020 he described his encounter publicly to George Knapp. As he tells it, he was reading a math paper in his Toronto condo one morning in 2019 when three gray beings appeared and paralyzed him. He says they showed him strange symbols and telepathically conveyed a message: "The Universe is teeming with life, we just lack the instruments to see it."
He has since turned the experience toward theory. In a September 2025 paper, Consciousness Functor, Geodesic Coordination, and Resurgence, issued under StarVasa, he proposed a mathematical framework that treats consciousness as a structural co-field of geometry and adds a consciousness term to Einstein's field equations. The paper offers conceptual proposals and equations rather than experimental results, and it was posted on his own newsletter rather than in a journal.
In his 2026 interview with Jesse Michels, Prasad said a teacher in a gifted program in British Columbia had assigned him ESP exercises as a child and later tried to train him in telekinesis after class. He also argued that AI, quantum computing and UFOs are linked, and suggested modern AI could be "a Trojan horse from aliens." He tied that idea to Philip Corso's disputed claim that technology recovered at Roswell sped the development of integrated circuits, fiber optics and lasers. His public profile now rests on two tracks: a record as a founder of quantum, AI and space companies, and a personal contact account that he presents as the motive behind his scientific interests.
