Kevin Knuth is an American physicist and professor at the University at Albany whose work includes Bayesian inference, information physics, and data analysis. Earlier in his career he worked at NASA Ames Research Center on intelligent systems and scientific computing. He later became involved in the scientific study of unidentified aerial phenomena.

Knuth trained in physics and worked at NASA Ames before joining the University at Albany, where his research included Bayesian inference, information theory, and methods for reasoning from incomplete data. Those tools shaped his interest in UAP performance estimates and the design of field observations. As a co-founder of UAPx, he also moved from analysis of reported numbers into instrument deployment, helping create a model in which academic researchers collect their own synchronized optical and environmental measurements.

Knuth has analyzed reported UAP kinematics and argued that some observations, if their distances and timing are accurate, imply extreme acceleration and energy requirements. Those calculations are conditional on the underlying measurements; an error in range, geometry, or identification can substantially change the result. He co-founded UAPx, a group that deploys instruments to collect synchronized optical, infrared, radiation, and other data in areas associated with reports.
