Marik von Rennenkampff is an American national-security analyst, writer, and UAP researcher. He served as a political appointee in the Office of the Secretary of Defense during the Obama administration and later as an analyst in the State Department’s Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation. That background informs his emphasis on military reporting, intelligence process, aerospace safety, and congressional authorities.

Since 2019, von Rennenkampff has written extensively about UAP for The Hill and other outlets. His columns assemble official statements, legislation, pilot accounts, and contradictions in Pentagon explanations, often arguing that the cumulative record deserves more serious scrutiny than any one video. He also hosts Sol Foundation briefings and appears in interviews that translate technical disputes for general audiences.

His research includes co-authoring a paper that reconstructed possible flight paths for the 2015 Gimbal object using information from the released infrared video and witness-reported range. The authors found trajectories consistent with an abrupt reversal at the reported distance while also discussing the conventional jet-and-glare hypothesis. The analysis illustrates both the possibilities and limits of sensor evidence when original range and radar data remain unavailable.
