Preston Dennett is an American author and independent investigator whose work documents UFO sightings, close encounters, and other anomalous experiences. He began researching the subject in 1986 after learning that friends and relatives had reports of their own. From that local starting point, he expanded into interviews, case files, lectures, articles, and a large catalog of books focused on witness narratives.

Dennett has written more than two dozen books and many articles on subjects including underwater UFOs, schoolyard encounters, onboard experiences, healing claims, and regional sighting histories. He has contributed to magazines and appeared on radio, television, podcasts, and conference programs. Much of his method is archival and testimonial: locating people, preserving their accounts, grouping recurring features, and comparing cases across time.

His books give unusual or little-known reports a durable record, particularly in abduction and contact literature. At the same time, witness consistency and narrative detail do not by themselves establish an extraterrestrial cause. Many cases lack original documents, medical records, instrument data, or independent observers, and Dennett generally writes from a position open to the witnesses’ anomalous interpretations.

Dennett’s place in UAP history rests on breadth and preservation rather than institutional authority. He has built a searchable body of human experience that can support cultural study, case comparison, and follow-up investigation. His focus on ordinary witnesses also preserves a layer of the subject often overlooked by military and policy coverage. His work is most responsibly used when reports are identified as testimony and when the occurrence of an account remains distinct from proof of the event’s proposed explanation.
