Non-human craft is a claim about authorship: that an object was designed, manufactured, or operated by an intelligence other than humanity. It is not synonymous with UAP. An observation can remain unidentified because information is incomplete, while identifying a craft as non-human would require positive evidence about its materials, engineering, control, or origin. The distinction separates an unknown in a report from a conclusion about who built it.
Modern claims cluster around alleged crash retrieval and reverse engineering programs. David Grusch testified in 2023 that people with direct knowledge described recovered vehicles of non-human origin; participants in The Age of Disclosure have made related statements about multiple craft and a strategic competition to exploit them. Those accounts have brought the phrase into congressional and media discussion, but the public testimony has not been accompanied by a vehicle, authenticated engineering file, or openly testable sample.
Legislative drafts use the broader term technologies of unknown origin to describe materials or devices lacking prosaic attribution. That wording is designed to capture possible records and property without requiring agencies to accept an extraterrestrial conclusion in advance. It also allows a review process to distinguish foreign technology, classified domestic systems, industrial debris, and genuine anomalies. AARO’s 2024 historical report said it found no verifiable evidence that the government or private industry had possessed off-world technology.
Stories of non-human craft remain important because they are specific enough to generate records, custodians, facilities, contracts, and scientific claims that could in principle be checked. They are also vulnerable to circular sourcing when several witnesses repeat information that began with the same unidentified account. In the current public record, non-human craft is a consequential allegation advanced by named former officials and denied by the office assigned to investigate it—not an established category of aerospace vehicle.
