UFO videos are moving images of objects or effects that the recorder could not identify at the time. The category ranges from phone footage and cockpit video to infrared targeting pods, radar-linked displays, and classified intelligence sensors. A recording can be authentic footage from a real military platform while the object in it remains ambiguous; authenticity of the file and identification of the subject are separate questions.
The modern benchmark is the Defense Department’s 2020 release of FLIR1, GIMBAL, and Go Fast, recorded by Navy aircrews in 2004 and 2015. The Pentagon confirmed that the videos were genuine unclassified Navy material and that the observed phenomena remained characterized as unidentified at release. That statement did not certify the apparent speed, distance, shape, or extraterrestrial origin inferred by viewers.
Analysis depends on details that compressed clips often omit: sensor mode, field of view, aircraft motion, slant range, wind, tracking behavior, and the difference between line-of-sight movement and physical motion. The Tic Tac UAP case gains context from pilot testimony and shipboard radar reports beyond its infrared clip. Conversely, AARO has resolved some striking videos through parallax, balloons, birds, or sensor artifacts after reconstructing geometry and environmental conditions.
The growing archive includes public releases, leaks, and still-classified material requested by Congress. AARO publishes imagery with case assessments, while advocates argue that higher-quality recordings remain withheld to protect sources and methods. UFO video is therefore most significant as a bridge between testimony and measurement: it preserves sensor output, but its meaning can change substantially when the surrounding data are recovered.
