He co-founded the online payments company that became PayPal, led Tesla’s expansion into a major electric-vehicle manufacturer, and founded SpaceX in 2002. Through Falcon rockets, Dragon spacecraft, Starlink, and Starship, SpaceX has become a central contractor in civil, commercial, and national-security spaceflight.
That aerospace footprint gives Musk an unusual relationship to the UFO subject even though he does not present himself as a disclosure advocate. SpaceX operates a large fleet of satellites and routinely launches vehicles whose lights, staging events, and reentries can prompt UAP reports. Starlink trains in particular have been misidentified by pilots and the public, illustrating how new space infrastructure can create unfamiliar but conventional sights.
Musk has repeatedly said he has seen no persuasive evidence that extraterrestrials are visiting Earth. He often frames the absence of clear observations as a version of the Fermi paradox: if advanced life is common, where is the unmistakable evidence? He has also joked about aliens and described himself as willing to share credible proof if it appeared. Those remarks are personal judgments, not the result of an announced government review or access to every classified sensor system.
The contrast between Musk’s expansive vision of multiplanetary life and his skepticism toward current visitation claims shapes his place in non-human intelligence debates. His companies put more cameras, satellites, launches, and observers into the sky while also adding potential sources of misidentification. That combination makes him influential in public discussion of sensor evidence, but neither SpaceX’s reach nor Musk’s confidence resolves cases held by military or intelligence agencies.

We know that Elon says he is confident that UFOs don't exist. Grusch mentioned that he has the clearance to know, unlike Elon, and that he can talk more about Elon if Joe wants.
