🧵WHY THE FIRST ALIEN CIVILIZATION WE MEET COULD BE HUMAN (1/10) Humanity may leave Earth as one species and spread through space as several different species. The first settlers on Mars would arrive as humans from Earth. The split begins if their children are conceived, born and raised under 38% of Earth's gravity, with far less protection from radiation and only limited movement between planets.👇

It's always amusing when the people who invoke a literal alien civilization sending ships to Earth and buzzing our military bases for 80 years without real detection are the ones who think that "possibly an insect, for part of the video" is the highly improbable hypothesis. [Quoted] @flarkey @droneologists @MrHustleMCR @RichardHanania @MattDaWhite To contend they are different objects is a massive stretch. The focal length/duration with imaging a flying insect is as unlikely as a starship eme...

Archive link: https://archive.ph/fHHXD Imagine an alien civilization that runs on dazzling technologies far more advanced than our own. Picture city-size starships, planet-wide mines or swarms of solar panels that harvest energy directly from a star. As these aliens go about their otherworldly business, the erosive forces of space wear down their infrastructure, loosening tiny bits of debris that detach and drift into the cosmos. If the civilization collapses, its remains degrade even faster....

Fly around in big, noticeable craft instead of using nanomachines, invisible vehicles, etc. Are extremely advanced, yet still periodically crash All these objections rely on predicting what an "alien" civilization would be like, which is almost definitionally impossible for anything truly "alien." What's more, we know acting like...
LLMs are evolving so fast and they are so huge that they contain (may) entire knowledge on earth. Whatif any alien civilization gets hold of uncensored version of it? They won't need anymore knowledge to control/destroy the human civilization. Thoughts?
