Benny Johnson is an American conservative political commentator, YouTuber and host of The Benny Show, a podcast and video program aimed at a right-leaning online audience. He is a political entertainer rather than a UFO researcher, but in the spring of 2026 his show became a frequent venue for UFO statements by senior Republican figures, among them Vice President JD Vance and former Rep. Matt Gaetz.

Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1987 and educated at the University of Iowa, Johnson began writing opinion pieces for Breitbart in 2010 and worked at TheBlaze before joining BuzzFeed as a staff writer in 2012. BuzzFeed fired him in 2014 after an online investigation found that some of his posts had lifted text without credit from sources including Wikipedia and Yahoo Answers; he apologized. He then worked at National Review, the Independent Journal Review and The Daily Caller before becoming chief creative officer of Turning Point USA in 2019. In 2024 federal prosecutors charged two Russian state media employees with secretly funding a Tennessee company whose description matched Tenet Media, which had a content deal with Johnson and other right-wing influencers; Johnson, who was not charged, said he and the others were "victims" of the alleged scheme. By September 2025 his main YouTube channel had about six million subscribers.

UFOs entered the show after President Trump announced in February 2026 that he would direct the release of government files on aliens and UFOs. In an interview released on March 27, 2026, Vance told Johnson, "I don't think they're aliens. I think they're demons anyway," linking the reports to the Christian idea of evil, and when Johnson asked whether the administration would release the files, Vance replied, "Ah, we're workin' on it." Days later Johnson interviewed NASA administrator Jared Isaacman. Johnson's post billed the exchange as a declaration that alien life "EXISTS," but Isaacman's quoted remarks were hedged: he put the chance of proving microbial life on Mars, if samples were returned, at better than 90 percent.

On March 31, 2026, Gaetz told Johnson that while he was in Congress a uniformed U.S. Army service member had briefed him, in a non-classified setting at his Florida office, about alleged alien-human "hybrid breeding programs." Gaetz acknowledged that he had not verified the account, and The Independent said it had sought comment from the White House and the Defense Department. On April 2, Johnson said in a widely shared clip that U.S. fighter pilots had told him of "red orb" objects that approached their jets midair and then "zoom off," alongside Rep. Greg Steube's statement that the government could not explain the objects. The next day he hosted Steven Greer, whom his post billed as a "top UFO expert" confirming Gaetz's account; Greer claimed the government had "captured those bodies, some living, some dead."

Johnson has not investigated UAP himself; his significance lies in access and reach. Within a single week in spring 2026 his program produced the vice president's "demons" remark and Gaetz's breeding-program claim, both reported by Fox News, The Independent and other outlets, and it brought the disclosure debate to a conservative audience that had rarely heard senior officials discuss the subject at such length.
