Dylan Borland served as a U.S. Air Force geospatial intelligence specialist and later as an intelligence analyst in the private sector. He has since become a whistleblower in UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) investigations, testifying to both the Intelligence Community Inspector General and the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). In 2012, while stationed at Langley Air Force Base, Borland reported seeing an equilateral triangle-shaped craft approximately 100 feet across. He says it hovered near a NASA hangar, emitted no sound, disturbed no wind, and appeared to interfere with his phone. According to his account, the material of the craft seemed fluid or dynamic, and after several minutes it ascended rapidly to commercial jet altitude. Borland has stated he reported the incident through official channels.
These details stem from his testimony, but independent verification remains limited.
Beyond that singular sighting, Borland claims involvement in more substantial UAP-related operations. He alleges exposure to a UAP Legacy Crash Retrieval Program while working under a Special Access Program (SAP), describing access to recovered crafts, reverse engineering efforts, and highly sensitive intelligence not generally disclosed to Congress or the public. These assertions have not been substantiated by declassified documents made public.
Borland also alleges systematic retaliation following his reports. He says his security clearance was manipulated, that employment opportunities were blocked, and that he endured bullying, economic pressure, and other forms of reprisal. Whistleblower filings and his congressional testimony record these claims. Whether or how these reprisals have been formally reviewed or adjudicated remains unclear.
His testimony gained renewed attention against a backdrop of heightened political interest in UAPs. After former President Barack Obama made public remarks suggesting extraterrestrial life is statistically probable, President Donald Trump directed federal agencies to identify and release UAP/UFO/alien-related files. This order does not directly cite Borland’s testimony, but his claims align with broader disclosure efforts now under official consideration.
Open questions include: Are there physical artifacts or independently verified documents to corroborate the crash retrieval and reverse engineering claims?
