Lauren Boebert is an American Republican politician who has represented Colorado in the U.S. House since 2021, first for the 3rd congressional district and, since January 2025, for the 4th. A member of the House Freedom Caucus and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, she has used Oversight hearings to ask about alleged secret UAP programs, and in 2026 she became one of the most outspoken members of Congress about what she said she had seen in classified settings, often framing the phenomenon in religious terms.

Born in Altamonte Springs, Florida, in 1986, Boebert moved to Colorado and in 2013 opened Shooters Grill, a restaurant in Rifle that she owned until it closed in 2022. She entered politics in 2020 by defeating five-term incumbent Scott Tipton in the Republican primary for the 3rd district, then won the general election that November. In December 2023 she announced that she would run in the 4th district instead, and she won that seat in 2024. Her committee work includes Oversight and Natural Resources.

At the 2024 House Oversight UAP Hearing on November 13, 2024, Boebert asked the witness panel about rumors of a secret Defense Department project involving "non-human genetic material" and possible human-alien hybrids, asking whether any of them were familiar with it. In February 2026, after President Donald Trump said he would direct agencies to release government files on UFOs and extraterrestrial life, she said in a widely shared clip: "We've gone in and seen some of the classified documents, there's some really interesting things there." Later that month, after Oversight's deposition of Hillary Clinton in its Epstein investigation, during which Clinton was asked about UFOs, Boebert said the questions stemmed from material in the Epstein files and from Clinton's ties to her longtime adviser John Podesta.

Her most widely discussed remarks came on May 8, 2026, hours after the Department of War posted the first tranche of declassified UAP files. In a video interview for the Christian program Breakthrough Hour, later circulated by Right Wing Watch, she cited Old Testament accounts of fallen angels and the Nephilim, said "there are things that we have seen that could resemble portals," and concluded: "I do believe that this is more spiritual and, if you really want to go there, demonic." She did not point to a specific document in the release. In remarks circulated at the end of May, she called the released files historic but "underwhelming" compared with what she said she had seen in classified briefings, citing "a lot of underwater activity" and some material she described as supernatural.

Boebert's UAP record consists mainly of hearing questions and public descriptions of classified material, and those descriptions have consistently emphasized hybrids, portals and spiritual explanations rather than foreign or technological ones. That framing, echoed in 2026 by other conservative figures, made her one of the most quoted voices in the argument over how much the government's file releases had actually revealed.
