Mark Christopher Lee is a British filmmaker, musician, and UFO researcher who leads the advocacy group UFO Disclosure UK. He is best known for a 2026 claim that a Washington insider had told him President Trump would deliver a UFO disclosure speech on July 8, 2026, a claim he later retracted and apologized for after the source he was linked to denied any contact.
Lee built his profile through documentaries. God vs Aliens was screened at the Cannes Film Festival market in 2023, and UFO Encounters of the Fifth Kind, about British groups attempting to summon craft, reached Amazon Prime in 2024. The King of UFOs, which explores claimed royal interest in UFOs on the word of an unnamed palace insider, premiered at the London launch of UFO Disclosure UK in May 2025. The Rendlesham UFO: The British Roswell, which he co-directed with Roderick Godman about the 1980 Rendlesham Forest incident, premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in 2025.
From January 2026, Lee said a source had told him Trump had written a speech that would cite the Navy's Tic Tac, GoFast, and Gimbal videos and Roswell, confirm recovered craft, and set up a task force. In February he told Newsweek the date remained July 8 and that his source would hold a press conference in Washington on May 1. Newsweek could not verify any of it, and the White House did not comment on the record. The prediction spread widely across UFO media, partly because 2026 had already brought real official activity on UAP records.
On March 10, Lee wrote that he had taken a chance and been burned. In a follow-up interview he declined to confirm whether his source was Robert Bigelow, though journalist Ross Coulthart later said Lee had named Bigelow as one of two sources. Reporter George Knapp then said Bigelow told him he had never met, spoken to, or emailed Lee, and by the end of March Lee had apologized to both men for sharing the claim without proper verification. Neither the promised press conference nor the speech took place.
Lee's significance is as a case study in the 2026 disclosure moment: an insider prediction with a specific date, amplified across social media and podcasts, then tested and undone by the calendar. He continues to work as a filmmaker and advocate through UFO Disclosure UK.
