Mike Gold is an American attorney and space-policy executive whose career has centered on commercial spaceflight, civil-space partnerships, and international cooperation. He held senior roles at Bigelow Aerospace and later joined NASA, where he became associate administrator for space policy and partnerships. He has worked on agreements and regulatory questions involving commercial stations, lunar exploration, and the growing private space sector.
Gold later became president of civil and international space at Redwire and then president of Redwire Space. His policy background complements the company’s work in space infrastructure, manufacturing, and exploration systems. Across government and industry, he has argued that NASA should use partnerships to move faster while preserving safety, law, and public purpose.
NASA appointed Gold to its 2022–2023 independent study team on UAP. The group did not evaluate classified cases or conclude that extraterrestrials were present; it examined how NASA’s data, scientific expertise, and public credibility could improve study of unidentified observations. Gold emphasized reducing stigma, collecting better reports, and applying ordinary scientific standards rather than treating the subject as either settled or unserious.
He has continued to discuss possible anomalies in historical imagery and the cultural pressures that can prevent specialists from asking questions. Those comments do not turn ambiguous images into confirmed craft, but they reinforce the value of scientific UAP research and transparent review. His later work with the Disclosure Foundation carries the same policy emphasis into nonprofit advocacy.
