Reptilians are alleged humanoid beings with reptile-like features in UFO stories, occult literature, science fiction, and conspiracy culture. Serpent people have deep mythic and literary precedents, but the modern claim is not a continuous ancient tradition. Twentieth-century pulp fiction, contact narratives, hypnotic-abduction accounts, and New Age ideas supplied motifs that later writers assembled into a theory of hidden non-human control.
British author David Icke popularized the best-known version in the late 1990s. He argued that shape-shifting reptilian entities manipulate political institutions and elite bloodlines, presenting public figures as concealed members or agents of this hierarchy. Academic studies treat this as conspiracy mythology and New Age theodicy rather than zoology or anthropology. No biological specimen, genomic result, or independently documented transformation supports the claim.
The reptilian idea also appears in narrower encounter reports that do not include a world-control conspiracy. Witnesses or hypnotic subjects have described scaled skin, vertical pupils, or vaguely saurian bodies, while entertainment repeatedly uses similar designs. Those accounts sit near abduction and contact, but memory reconstruction, suggestion, and circulating imagery make influence difficult to separate from observation. Similarity to ancient serpent symbolism is not evidence that ancient artists recorded the same literal species.
The topic has consequences beyond harmless monster lore. Scholars have noted that Icke’s secret-bloodline narrative overlaps with older antisemitic stories about hidden elites, even though he denies that his claims are coded references to Jews. Reptilians therefore matter as a case study in how interdimensional beings, political suspicion, and popular fiction can fuse into a total explanation resistant to disconfirmation. Its documented reality is cultural: books, communities, and recurring claims, not a verified population of non-human humanoids.

When Davis first mentioned the four types of NHI, I cautioned people to not get carried away and to wait for details on the sources for that info. But people ran with it anyway. Clicks and views. Davis: "The praying mantis or Insectoid, and the Reptilian, they're the least credible, in my opinion. I haven't seen anything at a classified, or highly credible, unclassified level that gives a lot of credence to those two types of species' morphologies."
