DefenseScoop is an online news outlet covering the U.S. military's acquisition, development and use of technology. It is published by Scoop News Group, a Washington, D.C., public-sector technology media company led by founder and CEO Goldy Kamali, whose other titles include FedScoop, CyberScoop, StateScoop and EdScoop. DefenseScoop's reporting centers on Pentagon programs, artificial intelligence, drones, space, cyber operations and the policies that govern them, and the outlet also produces podcasts and events for defense and government technology audiences.
Its UAP coverage is largely the work of senior reporter Brandi Vincent, who reports on disruptive technologies and the policies affecting Pentagon and military personnel. Before joining Scoop News Group she worked at Nextgov, Snapchat and NBC and produced a documentary, and she was named Best New Journalist at the 2024 Defence Media Awards. Vincent began covering the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office in December 2022, when the Pentagon widened its inquiries to objects under water and moving between air, space and sea. She followed the office through its early caseload reports, congressional hearings, leadership changes and the launch of its public reporting website.
DefenseScoop tracked the federal disclosure effort closely after President Trump said in February 2026 that he would direct agencies to release UAP records. In March, Vincent and Madison Alder reported that the White House had registered alien.gov and aliens.gov, and that spokeswoman Anna Kelly answered questions about them with "Stay tuned!" and an alien emoji. Vincent's May 14 story on the first file release under the Pentagon's PURSUE program gathered reactions from former officials and researchers, including Christopher Mellon's view that "data alone is not disclosure," which gave the story its headline. On May 27 she reported that MITRE was reviewing its archives after Representative Eric Burlison requested UAP records and assets dating back to 1930, and in June she reported the formation of the Avi Loeb-led science advisory council meant to help the government "resolve the UAP mystery."
Later stories covered AARO's investigation of a Navy-reported UAP event off the Virginia coast in July and, in September, the office's plan to buy a sole-source data subscription to the private archive of the National UFO Historical Records Center, led by historian David Marler. The contracting notice covered pre-1990 records, data and analysis, with a one-year base period and four option years, and gave AARO access without any promise of public release. On September 14 Vincent reported that the Pentagon was offering "targeted legal relief" to UAP whistleblowers supporting the PURSUE work.
DefenseScoop is a specialist trade outlet rather than a UFO publication, and its UAP stories rest largely on contracting notices, official statements and interviews with defense officials and transparency advocates. That approach has made it one of the steadiest running records of how AARO and the 2026 disclosure program actually operated.
