The Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies is a nonprofit group of scientists, engineers, analysts, academics, and other professionals seeking rigorous study of unidentified aerospace phenomena. Formed in the 2010s, SCU publishes case analyses, holds conferences, supports research projects, and advocates collection standards intended to move the subject beyond anecdote and stigma.
Its work applies methods from physics, astronomy, aerospace engineering, statistics, and sensor analysis to selected cases. Volunteer expertise permits multidisciplinary review but does not guarantee access to complete military data or uniform quality across projects. Technical papers are most persuasive when datasets, assumptions, calculations, and alternative explanations are visible to outside reviewers. SCU is membership-based rather than a university laboratory and relies heavily on volunteer labor. Its conferences allow researchers to present work in progress, while its research library preserves case reports and technical arguments. The coalition has also supported calls for government data access and standardized civilian instrumentation, placing it alongside projects such as the Galileo Project without making their methods identical.
SCU has analyzed prominent imagery and supported broader arguments for scientific UAP research. It also engages with government, academic, and civilian initiatives. A case remaining unexplained after coalition review does not establish a non-human cause; it identifies the limits of the data and hypotheses tested.
The organization’s significance is institutional persistence. It gives technically trained volunteers a forum, preserves methods, and presses for better UAP data collection. Its long-term credibility depends on correction, publication of negative results, independent replication, and clear boundaries between scientific findings and members’ personal interpretations.
