“Orb” is primarily a description of appearance: a round or point-like light in an image, through a sensor, or to an eyewitness. It does not identify composition, distance, or intelligence. Nearby dust, insects, lens flare, defocus, stars, aircraft lights, balloons, and distant objects can all appear circular under particular conditions. Some records remain unresolved because the necessary range, calibration, or environmental data were never captured.

Plasma is a well-established state of matter containing charged particles. Natural luminous phenomena can include lightning, sprites, meteors, aurorae, and the rarer reports grouped as ball lightning. Laboratory and atmospheric research makes plasma a legitimate physical possibility for some unusual lights. It does not follow that every UFO orb is plasma, and “plasma” should not be treated as a synonym for an unexplained glowing object.

Recent official releases and military reporting have increased attention to spherical imagery, including clips published through U.S. government UAP channels. A video can document a light or apparent sphere while leaving its size and behavior uncertain. Reliable interpretation depends on original metadata, multiple sensors, viewing geometry, weather, and platform motion—the same concerns central to sensor evidence. Claims that an orb changes shape, communicates, or displays purposeful control need evidence beyond luminosity alone.

The topic is best organized case by case. One branch concerns imaging artifacts and ordinary aerial objects; another concerns known atmospheric electricity; a third contains genuinely unresolved UAP sightings. Plasma models become stronger when spectra, electromagnetic measurements, duration, heat, or reproducible environmental conditions support ionized gas. Without those indicators, calling an object plasma is an inference. Likewise, failure to match a light to a familiar source does not establish non-human intelligence.
